Ashley Moerke is a professor at Lake Superior State University and serves as the director of the Center for Freshwater Research and Education where she works with an incredibly talented team to achieve their vision—Inspire our Community. Sustain our Great Lakes.
She is an expert in freshwater science, with a focus on the ecology and conservation of coldwater streams and rivers. She’s also passionate about engaging students in real-world scientific applications to create better citizens, managers, and scientists. Ashley has been working with the Anglers in recent years to support a partnership to provide student training in fisheries on the Au Sable and to expand water monitoring on the Au Sable through the MiWaterNet initiative (www.lssu.edu/cfre/miwaternet).
In her personal time, Ashley enjoys nearly all outdoor activities including fly fishing, grouse hunting, mountain biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. She is an avid world traveler and is always looking for the next adventure.
